Ways to Give

How Can I Support this Work?

At Via Health, Fitness & Enrichment Center, we are committed to empowering older adults to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. As a member, you’ve experienced firsthand the positive impact of our programs—from wellness initiatives to fitness classes and community enrichment activities.

Today, we invite you to take your support a step further. Your generosity helps ensure that we continue offering top-quality fitness classes and enrichment programs, resources, and opportunities for older adults to live healthier and more fulfilled. There are many meaningful ways you can give to Via:

  • One-Time or Monthly Donations: Your financial contributions help sustain our programs and expand our outreach to those in need.
  • Sponsorship Opportunities: Cheers to the Years, our fall gala, supports programs and projects at Via. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $1,000.
  • Giving Tree Campaign: Show your support or honor a loved one by purchasing a stone or leaf for our giving tree.
  • In-Kind Contributions: Donating equipment, supplies, or services can make a tremendous impact.

Other Ways to Make an Impact

Below are some insightful options for giving that go beyond traditional cash donations. These alternative methods can enhance your philanthropic impact while providing you with potential financial benefits.

  • Gifts of Stock of Appreciated Assets - Did you know that donating appreciated stocks or other assets can be more beneficial than giving cash? When you donate stocks that you have held for over a year, you can avoid paying capital gains taxes on the appreciation. This means that your gift can be worth more to us and less costly to you. For example, if you purchased stock for $1,000 and it is now worth $5,000, by donating it directly, the full $5,000 goes to us, and you avoid paying taxes on the $4,000 gain. This allows us to use the entire amount for our program and services, enhancing our community impact.
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions - If you are 701/2 years old or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). This can be a powerful way to support our mission while satisfying your Required Minimum Distributions. The best part? QCDs are not counted as a taxable income, which may help reduce your taxable income for the year. By choosing this method, you can make a meaningful contribution to Via while also benefitting your tax situation.
  • Grants from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) - Donor Advised Funds are an excellent way to streamline your charitable giving. If you have a DAF, you can recommend grants to Via directly from your fund. This method not only allows you to manage your charitable contributions efficiently but also provides you with the opportunity to give in a strategic manner. These funds can be invested for growth, allowing you to recommend larger grants in the future. Plus, contributions to your DAF are tax-deductible in the year they are nade, giving you potential tax advantages.
  • Include Via in your Will - Charitable gifts through your will reduce the size of your estate. This can result in estate tax savings, both at the federal and state levels, if your net worth is above the current estate tax exemption limit. Gifts of real estate, jewelry, retirement plan investments, life insurance or insurance annuity assets are all options. And the beneficiary designations in a will, as well as the specific gift amounts and types, can be changed by donors at any time during their lives.
